Must see..

While I was reading through out other blogs that my classmates did, I have found couple of them really interesting.

First one The media and Islam by Anna S., is in my oppinion worth of reading for anyone who does not know much about islam and feels little bit disturbed by the way media present this topic. Further more, you can read there even basic informations on such topic, along with more sophisticated ones.

Second, really important issue of nowadays is Children&Media covered by Jakub S. His weblog focuses on how messages from Media should be passed on children. Furthermore he is monitoring current situation in this field by providing two examples, of how this all should go wrong..

Third example is little bit more related to my topic. Hana N. writes about Portrayal of Women in Ads , for those more interested in one of the negative effects of advertising, here is the interesting page to go. Only one thing, that I did not enjoy, is the need to create account on her blog provider in order to comment on her pages :-(

Fourth example, while on the same topic as the third one, leaves different impression. Martina P. covers Women in Advertising from a little bit different perspective than Hana does. Anyways, her work is also worth of reading.

My last recommendation rocks for Marko A. and his hot issue of Media and Democracy . This blog holds some interesting informations, my only problem was sometimes with language.

Sex sells – in images

This is not a traditional article, it focuses at the creative part of sex selling. Author chose 7 ads that according to him sells best by using sex images. On the same server you can look at the similar article that is of an older date and basically does the same thing, shows 15 nowadays ads that uses sex selling in a best way. che

As you can see from the picture above, such commercials have really high stopping power.

Sex in advertising research

A review of content, effects, and functions of sexual information in consumer advertising.

One of the best research about sex in advertising that I have ever read. It was done by Tom Reichert in 2002. This research basicaly analyzes all moderate researches and tries to make a conclusion out of them. It starts with the analysis from a historical point of view, which is followed by current situation. Next he analyzes how different gender groups, age groups and social groups are sensible to this persuasive strategy. The whole research consists of examples which are easy to find on the internet according to their name. For a person interested in such topic, from a point of view of research and so on, I have not found a better one so far.

Introduction

At early 1920’s doctor John B. Watson recognized that sex can sell products. Ever since than, same technique has been used over and over again. Is this always true? Lot of the people from advertising industry argue, that such powerful tool has to be used properly, in order to be successful. Further more, impropriate usage could be harmful not only to the campaign but also to the society. This blog is all about this issue. I am going to take you to the journey that contains both sides of a coin. Successful campaigns and those which use sex only because their authors read somewhere that Sex Sells. So welcome a board, fasten your seatbelts, we are about to take-off.
